The SoulJourney

Marcela Urban

I include Expressive Arts into my work with clients in private sessions in a variety of ways. I work with drawing, movement, image and imagination, mythology, story telling and poetry. All those tools are interwoven into a session in an organic way and often complement one another. The beauty of working with Expressive Arts is that it's a gentle yet very powerful method of self-expression, self-inquiry and healing.

Art becomes a container to hold emotions and a way of expressing them as a metaphor with deeper meaning. Different modes of expression often inform one another so the issue we are working with can be seen from many viewpoints, gathering deep insights along the way. Art then becomes a resource we can always come back to, either in a form of a picture, or a memory of a body movement, story or a poem.

Our experiences live in our bodies. And through our bodies they can be expressed most authentically. Our soul speaks to us through creativity and imagination.

We are going to tell our stories not by speaking them but by drawing them and expressing them with our bodies. Through drawing and movement, you can explore your experiences, express your emotions, finding new meanings and perspectives. Movement is a powerful tool to touch upon what cannot be expressed or understood by logic. Let the untold be told and felt in a different, creative way.

This class is designed to explore and create experiences. It promotes embodiment, self-understanding and compassion, and helps to find hidden resources our experiences contain.

*No previous experience or skills needed. Materials will be provided to use in class. Please, wear comfortable clothes.
